City Card
|
The Stockholm Card The Stockholm Card gives admission to 75 museums and attractions, free travel on local public transport, free sightseeing by boat on selected departures during summer, and an illustrated guidebook with maps and several other offers. The card can be purchased at Tourist Information Centers in Stockholm, at SL centers (SL=local transportation network), and selected hotels and tourist attractions (City Hall and the Royal Palace). The card can also be ordered on-line at www.stockholmtown.com.
Choose between a 24-hour, 48-hour or a 72-hour card. Children's cards are available at reduced rates - up to 2 children's cards can be purchased with every adult card.

Opening hours shopping/ banking
|
Shops:
Weekdays: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. downtown).
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (departments stores 5:00 p.m.).
Large stores, shopping malls and a number of shops in downtown Stockholm are open on Sundays and public holidays. Larger supermarkets are open daily until 8:00 p.m.
Banks:
Weekdays: 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 9.m. with extended opening hours once a week.
ATMs can be found outside most banks and in larger shopping malls.
Foreign visitors can use all cash ATMs with a VISA card, MasterCard etc. and a PIN code.

Sweden has four distinct seasons, which differ depending where you are in the country. The following average midday temperatures apply to Stockholm:

Tipping/Tax

Tips:
A service charge is always included in the price, but please feel free to round up when taking a taxi or at a restaurant etc. To show your appreciation for good service, leave a small tip (approximately 10%).
Sales tax (VAT):
Sales tax (VAT) on consumer goods is 25%, with some exemptions.
Tax-free:
All non-EU residents are entitled to a tax refund of 15%-18% on every purchase exceeding SEK200 in shops affiliated with the Global Refund Sweden scheme.
Claiming your tax refund is easy:

Make your purchase in any shop or department store that is affiliated with Global Refund Sweden - look for the ‘TAX FREE SHOPPING' sign. Minimum purchase is SEK200. Show your passport and ask for a Global Refund Check. Your goods will be sealed and must not be opened until you have received an export validation. The goods must be exported no later than three months after the date of purchase.

Present your passport, your sealed purchases and your Global Refund Checks for export validation (stamp) at your point of departure from Sweden, or from the last country you visit within the EU. Refund offices in Sweden, Finland, Norway and at Copenhagen Airport are authorized to validate exports when they cash your Global Refund Checks. If you leave the EU from another country, you must present your goods at customs in order to obtain export validation.

Transportation to/from the airport

42 km to Arlanda International Airport (20 minutes by train to downtown Stockholm).
In Stockholm, you can dock at 7 different berth locations, 1 mooring buoy, and at Nynäshamn (60 minutes from Stockholm).
