1. The Medieval Cathedral of Turku
This medieval cathedral was consecrated in 1300 and is the national shrine of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Finland. Many Swedish notables are buried here, and there is a nice museum inside.

2. Turku Castle
Turku Castle is Finland’s oldest medieval castle. The construction of the castle began in 1280 and together with the cathedral it is still a central feature of the Turku cityscape. The Turku Castle and its halls have been skilfully restored and today, it features medieval festivals and exhibitions, medieval dances, archery, food and guided tours.

3. Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum
Luostarinmäki is a unique town of the past, which houses the Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum, where most of the houses still stand in their original places. There are about 30 workshops representing different trades and telling tales about the old occupations and the city life of days gone by.

4. Wäinö Aaltonen museum of Art
The national monuments of Finnish sculpture designed by Aaltonen, the statues of Aleksis Kivi and Paavo Nurmi, can be found in Helsinki. The Wäinö Aaltonen Museum is located here, in the sculptor’s childhood landscape in Turku.

5. Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova
The double museum of Aboa Vetus and Ars Nova allow you on the one hand to take a closer look at Turku’s archaeological treasures and on the other hand to get an impressive insight into 20th century art.

6. Forum Marinum
At the maritime centre, Forum Marinum, you can admire famous vessels such as Suomen Joutsen (The Swan of Finland), the mine ship Keihässalmi and the beautiful bark, Sigyn.

7. The Pharmacy Museum & Qwensel House
Qwensel House is Turku’s oldest bourgeois residence. Built around the turn of the 17th century, the rococo and Gustavian styled rooms display some of the lifestyle of the upper classes during the period of Swedish rule in Finland. Qwensel House also plays host to the Pharmacy Muse.

8. Biological Museum
Its thirteen impressive dioramas, the Biological Museum displays the Finnish flora and fauna. The display includes some thirty mammals and 136 bird species found in Finland. The museum is housed in an early 20th century Jugend style building, and it also hosts changing exhibitions and other events.

9. Sibelius Museum
The Sibelius Museum is the only museum totally devoted to music in Finland. A selection taken from the 1,400 instruments of traditional and art music from all around the globe is exhibited. One room is naturally reserved for Sibelius’ life and work. The collections available at the Sibelius museum are of interest to both experts and ordinary music lovers.

10. Turku Art Museum
Turku is one of Finland’s leading cities in the field of art. The newly modernized Turku Art Museum offers the audience art in abundance. The exhibitions open doors to the Finnish history of art from the early days to the latest media art, international works of art, and Scandinavian art in particular.
