The entrance of the Kalmar harbour is dominated by the city’s impressive renaissance castle with a history stretching back more than 800 years. On dry land, the visitor will feel the presence of history everywhere. Kalmar has been awarded the Europa Nostra prize twice for protecting and enhancing its rich historical heritage.
