Record two million plus port visits
The cruise season has started with a bang in the Baltic Sea, which this year will welcome more passengers than ever before.
Once again this year the Baltic Region will set a new record. Cruise Baltic's destinations are expecting no less than 2.3 million port visits. This represents an increase of five per cent compared to last year.
- It is gratifying to see that the work we have done is bringing results. The passengers are enthusiastic about the experiences that a cruise in the Baltic brings, and it shows in the number of visits which are once more at a record high. The individual destinations within Cruise Baltic have already worked a great deal to market our thematic products, and this is something the customers have embraced, says project director, Bo Nylandsted Larsen, continuing:
- 2,048 dockings have confirmed their plans to visit the 19 Cruise Baltic destinations. This is slightly less than last year, but this is due to a tendency prevalent everywhere: more passengers does not necessarily mean more ships, as ships are getting larger and can carry more guests on board.
The season promises 186 turnarounds in the region, which is also good news for the tourist offices. When passengers either begin or end their cruise at a destination, it gives tourists more time to experience the town and brings extra revenue to its hotels.
