Experience nature with our new northern partner
During the last year the Swedish town of Umeå had cruise traffic to Germany and joined Kvarkenrådet, a cruise project for Swedish and Finnish harbours in Bottenviken. Now, however, the town has decided to branch out into the international cruise world.
- The cruise project has inspired us. We have noticed that cruise companies are clearly interested in new destinations. We would like to explore this further and believe that the cooperation with Cruise Baltic Project gives us the opportunity to attract more cruise companies. This is why we have decided to join the project, says the Umeå region's tourist director, Maritta Holmberg.
- Small is beautiful, continues Maritta Holmberg. Of course, Stockholm is also beautiful, but I hope people don't just go there when they visit Sweden. The midnight sun over Bottenviken is a unique natural sight. There is much more to see and experience, not least Umeå town, which is one of Sweden's fastest growing towns with a pulsating cultural life. We can also offer day trips with river rafting and encounters with living mooses.
Umeå harbour is one of the northern coast's largest harbours. Umeå is the most densely populated municipality in northern Sweden. It is also one of Sweden's largest university towns.
